South Spokane Burglary Suspect Quickly Taken Into Custody; Suspect Found Sitting in a Chair When Officers Arrived

On December 11, 2025 at just before 8 a.m., Spokane Police responded to a home in the 600 block of South Ralph Street on a report of a residential burglary. 911 was advised that a female inside the home heard noises inside the residence leading her to believe someone had gained entry. The first officer was on scene within minutes of the call being dispatched.

Fearing for her safety, the homeowner hid in a closet, awaiting the arrival of law enforcement. Additional information was obtained through a doorbell camera showing a male suspect entering the residence. Officers quickly arrived and found the front door of the home had been forced open.

Upon making announcements at the front door, officers entered the home and quickly discovered the male suspect sitting in a chair in a back room. The male was taken into custody without incident and escorted out of the home. It appeared the suspect poured himself a drink (whiskey) while inside the residence. Officers would then contact the female victim who was still hiding.

The suspect, 36-year-old Michael A. Luciano was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Residential Burglary and 3rd Degree Malicious Mischief. Luciano is also being held on a detainer issued by the Department of Corrections.
