Spokane Police are investigating a collision on West Airport Drive

*** Update 05/14/2026***

Over the course of the last week probable cause was developed to charge the driver for one count of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault. Investigators learned he had been discharged from the hospital earlier in the week.

On May 14th around 11:00 am, Salom Batlok (22) was located at his home. He was arrested for the above crimes and booked into the Spokane County Jail.

Major Crimes was called to the scene and took over this investigation. One person is deceased and three others were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. It appears alcohol may be a contributing factor.

The Medical examiner will release the identity of the deceased individual at a later date.

We want to thank the community for their patience as SPD investigated this tragic collision. W. Airport Dr. is now open at S. Spotted Rd.

Spokane Police, along with neighboring agencies, are currently investigating a single vehicle collision near W. Airport Drive and S. Spotted Rd. Multiple people have been transported to local hospitals.

The call came in around 7:30 am this morning, May 8th, 2026. Multiple agencies responded to the collision and are working together to investigate the cause. Investigators are asking the community to avoid traveling westbound on W. Airport Dr. at S. Spotted Rd. This area will be shut down for several hours as crews continue their investigation.
