Just after 11:00 A.M. on September 29th, 2026, firefighters with the Spokane Fire Department and officers with the Spokane Police Department responded to the Tiki Lodge at 1420 W. 2nd Avenue for a reported fire in one of the rooms.
After the fire was extinguished an adult female victim was located in the room. She was unfortunately pronounced deceased at the scene.
SPD’s Major Crimes Unit was notified and responded for further investigation. They are working in conjunction with Spokane Fire Department investigators to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.
This investigation is active and information is preliminary at this time.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased and cause and manner of death at a later time.
