Riverfront Spokane Venue Grant Program

The goal of the Riverfront Spokane Venue Grant Program is to support community-centric businesses, organizations and individuals seeking to produce free public events at Riverfront Park. Up to three (3) grantees will be eligible for up to $10,000 per year in cumulative waived venue rental fees.

Riverfront Spokane's Venue Grant Program was developed to encourage public events that support cultural initiatives and offer the community an informational, educational, or entertaining experience.

Program Guidelines & Eligibility

  1. Riverfront Spokane's Venue Grant Program accepts applications from organization and individuals with the demonstrated ability to accomplish the proposed event.
  2. Applications must be completed entirely with a fully formed event plan following the provided template.
  3. Applicants must have or obtain a City of Spokane business license.
    1. General Liability Insurance on an occurrence basis with a combined single limit of not less than $1,000,000 each occurrence for Bodily Injury and Property Damage. It shall provide that the City, its agents, officers and employees are Additional Insured.
    2. Automobile Liability Insurance with a combined single limit, or the equivalent of not less than $1,000,000 each accident for Bodily Injury and Property Damage, including coverage for owned, hired or non-owned vehicles.
  4. Insurance: Applicants must have general commercial liability insurance with the following coverages:
  5. Applicants must have the ability to independently market and execute the proposed event in its entirety providing all labor, equipment and materials needed.
  6. The proposed event must comply with all Riverfront Spokane and City of Spokane policies and procedures.
  7. The event cannot be a promotion for an upcoming for-profit or paid activity.
  8. The event must occur during the 2023 calendar year.
  9. Upon grant award, grantee must enter into a contract with the City of Spokane.
  10. Grantees must provide a post-event report within 30 days after the event. See sample post-analysis report.

How to Apply

  1. Complete the Riverfront Venue Grant Application.
  2. Develop/upload sample event plan using the provided template.

Selection Process & Criteria

A selection committee made up of five (5) committee members representing key stakeholder groups will score and select winners based on the following criteria:

  1. Is this a new event to the park? The proposed event must be new to Riverfront Park.
  2. Is the event free and open to the public?
  3. Does the event create and support new annual traditions at Riverfront Park?
  4. Does the event promote cultural activities and awareness in the community or highlight an underserved cultural group?
  5. Does the event fill a void (not duplicate a current park event?)
  6. What is the potential reach?
