Fire damages West Central home

At 5:47 p.m., Spokane Fire Department crews responded to the West Central neighborhood for a reported house fire.

The first crew on scene reported heavy smoke coming from a home in the 1800 block of W. Broadway Ave. Firefighters discovered fire in the basement and two upper floors of the residence, but were able to extinguish it quickly. The owner of the property reported that nobody currently lived at the home.

The fire caused moderate damage to the basement and two upper floors of the home. There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Spokane Fire Department Special Investigations Unit.
