Firefighter Applicants (Entry Level)

The City of Spokane has completed the interview process for the 2025 academy. We will be accepting new applications for the 2026 recruitment later this year. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to sign up for job notifications (select “Fire & EMS”) to receive an email once the recruitment opens. Please note: Your PST written test must be taken within 12 months of your application date. To ensure your test remains valid, we recommend waiting until the recruitment opens before completing the PST.

Minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • No previous experience necessary
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Applicants are not required to have EMT training or possess certification at the time of application or examination
  • Minimum medical and health standards for this classification are established by state laws. All successful candidates who have been offered a position will be required to pass the necessary examination prior to appointment
  • Read the Memorandum of Understanding regarding use of tobacco (PDF 231 KB)
