Firefighter Applicants (Entry Level)

The City of Spokane is now accepting applications for the 2026 Academy. We are offering a FREE Written PST test on May 18th. There will also be slots to take the CPAT in Spokane on May 24th and 25th. You can sign up for the Public Safety Tests. After you've taken the PST, you can apply for the firefighter position with the City of Spokane

Please note: Your PST written test must be taken within 12 months of your application date. To ensure your test remains valid, we recommend waiting until the recruitment opens before completing the PST.

Minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • No previous experience necessary
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Applicants are not required to have EMT training or possess certification at the time of application or examination
  • Minimum medical and health standards for this classification are established by state laws. All successful candidates who have been offered a position will be required to pass the necessary examination prior to appointment
  • Read the Memorandum of Understanding regarding use of tobacco (PDF 231 KB)
