Work starts on Wall Street

Construction is beginning downtown on Wall Street. The project is part of the City's efforts to get to a cleaner river faster to improve the health of the Spokane River. This project includes roadway removal, repaving, sewer main installation and clean water main installation. Construction is scheduled to be finished by late October.

Work on the intersection of Wall Street and Main Avenue will start Monday, August 10. The following closures from this work include:

  • Monday to late October
    • Wall Street from Main Street to Spokane Falls Boulevard
  • Monday to Wednesday, Aug. 19
    • Main Avenue from Post Street to Howard Street
    • Post Street northbound from Riverside to Main Avenue

Contractor crews will work through the weekend to reopen Main Avenue on Thursday, August 20.

There will be no vehicle access and no on street parking available during these street closures. However, pedestrian access will be maintained.

Construction is always difficult for residents and businesses. We ask citizens for their patience as work on Wall Street temporarily restricts vehicle access in this area. Construction in this area may produce more noise due to the rock material present in this section of Wall Street.

During work on Wall Street the private construction project of Urban Outfitters at 702 W. Main will happen simultaneously. Urban Outfitters is expected to be complete in late June as part of River Park Square.

The public is encouraged to attend weekly construction meetings in Conference Room 3B, 3rd floor City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. The first meeting will be Thursday, August 13 at 8:30 a.m. If you have any questions or concerns leave a comment below.
