Join Us At Connect Downtown

Updated: 05/16/2018

Join us May 21st from 3 – 6 p.m. at the south entrance of Riverfront Park (near the Rotary Fountain) to discuss downtown Spokane’s future at Connect Downtown. Enjoy the newly opened Riverfront Park south bank while learning about future downtown projects and improvements. Connect Downtown will provide an opportunity for you to help shape Downtown Spokane’s future. There will be family-friendly games and activities provided by Sidewalk Games and Mobius! The Ben & Jerry’s ice cream truck will be at Connect Downtown selling ice cream and Kona Ice will be handing out FREE shaved ice!

We will be discussing a wide range of topics at the Connect Downtown event. This event is a great opportunity to share your feedback with multiple City departments and partner agencies such as the Public Facilities District, Spokane Transit Authority, Visit Spokane, the Downtown Spokane Partnership, and Spokane Parks.

The Parking Services Department will be on hand to discuss the current Downtown and University District Parking Studies. Staff will also be on hand to offer attendees a chance to submit a parking survey so we can further understand your parking needs.

Staff will also be there to discuss the 2018 Downtown Plan Update, “Downtown Central”, which will help guide the future of downtown Spokane for the next ten years and beyond. The Infill Development team will also be present to discuss upcoming changes to the development code.

Integrated Capital Management staff will also be on hand to discuss current and future downtown construction projects, including Riverside Avenue street improvements and the Post Street Bridge replacement.

In addition, Riverfront Park representatives will discuss the ongoing redevelopment process. Come learn about the Skating Rink and the recently opened Looff Carrousel. Ask about current construction and hear about future construction to come! Visit Spokane will also be present to discuss the future Visitor Center for Spokane.

Spokane Transit will be at the Connect Downtown event to discuss the future Central City Line. This high performance transit line will connect Browne’s Addition to Spokane Community College by way of Downtown Spokane and the University District. They will be providing short guided bus tours at 3, 4, and 5 p.m. for citizens to learn firsthand about the Central City Line. This project ties in directly with the City’s Riverside Avenue Street Improvements.

Representatives from the Spokane Sports Commission and Spokane Public Facilities District will be at the Connect Downtown event to discuss the proposed Spokane Regional Sportsplex. This multi-purpose fieldhouse would be constructed on the north bank of the Spokane River near the Spokane Arena.

The Downtown Spokane Partnership will be available to discuss the Downtown Plan Update, Downtown Central, and how their organization is advocating for the downtown. The University District will have a booth with Mobius! Mobius will provide some child-friendly activities. The University District will discuss construction of the University District Gateway Bridge and what items citizens would like to see in a time capsule!

Please join us at this family friendly event on Monday, May 21 from 3 – 6 p.m. at the south entrance of Riverfront Park. Enjoy games, Ben & Jerry's ice cream and FREE Kona Ice while learning about the future of Downtown Spokane!
