Make a Difference in Your Community

Are you looking to make a difference in your community? You can give back by joining a volunteer board or commission today!

Currently, we are looking for applicants for the Bicycle Advisory Board. For the past 26 years, this board has been providing advice and direction to the City Council and all departments and officers of the city on matters relating to bicycling. In addition, this group raises public awareness of bicycle issues.

The Bicycle Advisory Board meets the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. in City Hall. If you would like to join this board send in an application today! We will be accepting applications for three vacant positions and a student representative position until they are filled.

Applications are also being accepted for the Ombudsman Commission. This five member citizen commission oversees the Ombudsman’s Office. They are currently looking for applicants who live in District 1.

The Ombudsman Commission meets the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Applications for this commission are due Thursday, July 12.

The Spokane Park Board is looking to fill a vacancy too. This board was created in 1910 and granted power by Article V of the City Charter to layout, establish, purchase, procure, accept and have the care, management, control, and improvement of all parks grounds and parkways controlled by the City of Spokane and used for park purposes.

The Spokane Park Board meets every second Thursday of the month at 3:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Applications for this board are due Friday, July 6.

To view a full list of open positions visit our Boards & Commissions Vacancies page. All application must be submitted to the Mayor’s Office.
