It's Pow Wow Weekend in Spokane - activities begin tonight

Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 3:35 p.m.

The Spokane Falls Northwest Indian Encampment & Pow Wow brings to life significant cultural celebration as dancers, their families and the public convene on August 23rd and 24th in the Lilac Bowl in Riverfront Park. New this year is the Family Fun Night & Tiny Tot Pow Wow beginning at 5 p.m. with activities and fun for all ages.

By tradition, pow wows are a time for gathering and a time for celebration. Pow wows are a significant source of cultural heritage for everyone who lives in the Inland Northwest, not just the tribes. The annual Pow Wow in Riverfront Park offers a variety of activities for celebration including dancing, cultural activities for children, and a market featuring foods, arts and crafts.
