Thanks for the Walk!

Please join us Thursday for SpokAnimal’s annual Thanksgiving morning dog walk, taking place this year on Thanksgiving morning, November 27 at 8:30 a.m.

Bring the whole family and your well-behaved best friend to this annual gathering of pets and owners that kicks off the day when we all reflect on what we are most thankful. In our case it’s our 7th Annual “Thanks for the Walk!” and our staff and volunteers.

We will gather at 8:30 a.m. (before your turkey goes in the oven!), with coffee and goodies before you head out on a beautiful one or two mile morning stroll with your four-legged friends. There is a $10 suggested donation from each family to help support our dog park.

New Dog Park Pavilion Ribbon-cutting

After you complete the walk we hope you’ll stay to join with Gail Mackie, SpokAnimal Executive Director, and the staff of SpokAnimal for a very special ribbon-cutting ceremony. A very talented and dedicated young man, Keign Vedvick, donated his time and talents to erect an amazing pavilion for folks to use at the dog park. This involved over a year of dedicated time and work on Keign’s part along with donors and sponsors who supported the efforts Keign put into this project.

About SpokAnimal Dog Park at High Bridge

On December 27, 2010, a 3-year contract between SpokAnimal and the City of Spokane Parks and Recreation Department was signed signaling the beginning of the first dog park in the City of Spokane. Thanks to a generous $40,000 donation from SpokAnimal, Phase I of development has been completed with installation of fencing for the safety of our best friends and the security of the community.

Directions to the dog park: Take Riverside west from downtown. Look for “A” Street and turn left. If you are coming on Government Way, turn east on Riverside; look for “A” street and turn right.
