SPD offers trauma-informed support for victims and survivors of violent crimes with the help of SPD’s Crime Victim Advocate. The Crime Victim Advocate works closely with SPD detectives, providing victims with investigative/case updates, providing referrals to community-based advocates, referrals for community resources and more.
The primary goal of the SPD Crime Victim Advocate is to listen to survivors, help them identify what next step they want to take, address immediate safety concerns, and offer connections to resources in the community and within the Criminal Justice System.
Our victim advocate assists with the following crimes:
We treat every survivor with dignity, respect, and without discrimination. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, creed, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, familial status, military status, age or disability.
Note: The SPD Crime Victim Advocate is part of the criminal justice system and cannot offer confidential services. If you need confidential support, contact: Lutheran Community Services Northwest (LCSNW) or the YWCA. If you're searching for ways to support someone else who may be struggling in their relationship, please refer to the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence Friends and Family Guide.
