Today at 1 p.m. the following visuals as well as an opportunity for an on-camera interview will be available at the Spokane Police Academy (2302 N. Waterworks St.):

  • Nine different K-9/handler training stations (both indoor and outdoor)
  • K-9 training exercises including
    • building searches,
    • gunfire exposure training,
    • vehicle searches,
    • and tactical tracking

The Washington State Police Canine Association (WSPCA) is a non-profit organization that promotes the educational advancement, welfare, and safety of canine teams in law enforcement throughout Washington State.

During the seminar, funds are raised for the 'Retired Police K-9 Fund'. This fund helps provide financial support for retired Police K-9's. Police K-9s live with their handlers after retirement from police work and typically have medical bills and other expenses inherited by their handler.
