SPD Officer Saves Drowning Man

***Spokane Police Officer Palmer will be available for a brief on-camera interview today at 12:20 pm in the Chief’s Conference Room of the Public Safety Building.

Today, 6/9/14, at approximately 10 am, Spokane Police received a report of a male yelling for help in the Spokane River near the Red Lion River Inn (700 N. Division). First responding Spokane Police Officer Bruce Palmer took quick action and grabbed a life-saving ring from a hotel pool and threw the ring to the drowning man. The man grabbed on to the ring and Ofc. Palmer pulled him to safety.

The man was transported to the hospital for evaluation, but is expected to make a full recovery.
