Major Crimes Arrests Suspect in September 3rd Stabbing

The Spokane Police Department Major Crimes Unit arrests a suspect in September 3rd stabbing that occurred in the 800 block of North Division. Joshua Burnette, an acquaintance of the victim, was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail on a charge of 1st Degree Assault.

On September 3, 2014, just before 6 p.m., Spokane Police responded to the report of a fight in the Wendy’s parking lot in the 800 block of North Division. Officers located the victim who had been stabbed and had suffered potentially life threatening injuries. Medics treated the victim at the scene and then transported him to an area hospital for where additional life-saving measures were taken.

Spokane Police Major Crimes Detectives responded to the location of the incident and processed the crime scene. Information was developed from witnesses that 21-year-old Joshua Burnette was the suspect in the assault and that he and the victim were acquaintances. Major Crimes Detectives located Burnette yesterday and booked him into the Spokane County Jail on a charge of 1st Degree Assault.

Burnette will appear in court today at 1:30 p.m.
