Spokane Police arrest a suspect, Tyler D. Goodman (25), for 1st Degree Burglary, Theft of a Motor Vehicle and 1st Degree Malicious Mischief after he broke into a car dealership, took a car and drove it through the facility’s roll up garage door. Officers were able to stop Goodman before he fled from the location and took him safely into custody.

Last night, 10/15/2014, just after 11 p.m., Spokane Police were called to the area of Sprague/Napa to check on the welfare of a man at the location, later identified as 25-year-old Tyler D. Goodman. The caller said she was concerned for Goodman because he told her he was having hallucinations and she believed he was high on methamphetamines.

Officers then received information Goodman was inside Becker Buick, at 636 E. Sprague. As officers arrived on-scene, Goodman drove through one of the roll up garage doors at the business with a vehicle from the dealership.

After driving through the dealership’s garage door, Goodman still had the car in gear and it began rolling toward Sprague. Ofc. Chris McMurtrey pulled his police vehicle in front of the vehicle Goodman was driving to protect the safety of others in the area and to keep the car from accelerating into traffic. Goodman exited the vehicle and Ofc. McMurtrey and other officers took Goodman into custody in the Becker parking lot without further incident.

Goodman was booked for the above charges as well as an unrelated warrant for DUI. He will be in first appearance at 1:30 p.m. today.
