Spokane Police arrest Domestic Violence suspect after an hours-long standoff. The suspect, Donald R. Caldwell was taken into custody safely after barricading himself in a residence armed with a knife.

Yesterday, 10/20/14, at approximately 12 p.m., Spokane Police officers responded to a home in the 1800 block of W. 6th to make contact with a Domestic Violence suspect. Officers had probable cause to arrest the suspect, identified as Donald R. Caldwell (53 years old), for two counts of Felony Harassment (Threats to Kill) and Unlawful Imprisonment related to DV offenses allegedly committed over the weekend.

Officers located Caldwell and saw him go into the residence, however he would not answer the door when officers attempted to make contact. Caldwell was alone in the residence and was believed to be armed with a knife.

SPD's Emergency Response Unit (ERU) as well as negotiators were called to the scene. After several hours of negotiation, Caldwell exited the home and was taken safely in to custody.

He was booked into the Spokane County Jail for Felony Harassment (Threats to Kill) (X2) and Unlawful Imprisonment Domestic Violence.

Caldwell will appear in court today at 1:30 p.m.
