This morning (4/25/15) at about 11:30 AM, an observant citizen reported a suspicious object outside the Rock City Grill at Post/Spokane Falls Boulevard. Surveillance video showed officers that the package had been left deliberately. Officers closed the street, and evacuated several businesses and City Hall, a normal precaution to ensure the safety of everyone nearby.

The Emergency Disposal Unit (EDU) used a robot to examine the package and ensure it was not an explosive device. In this case, the package looked like a lunch box. Streets were re-opened within three hours. Events throughout downtown Spokane continued as scheduled, to include the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Riverfront Park.

Police take any threat to the safety of our citizens seriously. If you see a suspicious package or person, call Crime Check. Police encourage anyone with information about this package to call Crime Check at 456.2233.
