Spokane Police Officer Arrested for Domestic Violence

A Spokane Police Officer, John W. Yen (25) has been arrested for 1st Degree Burglary-Domestic Violence after an incident on Spokane’s South Hill.

Just after 9:00pm last night, 07/14/2015, Spokane Police responded to the 1100 block of E. 11th on the report of a male kicking in a door at a residence. A witness called 911 saying she had seen a male and female arguing. The female told the male (Yen) to leave and shut the door. Yen did not leave and entered the residence.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Yen and the victim were in a dating relationship. Yen did not live at that residence. At the time of the incident, Yen was armed with his off-duty firearm. He was arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail for 1st Degree Burglary-Domestic Violence. Yen has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal and an internal affairs investigation
