Spokane Police Officers arrested 45 year old Jonathan Scott Beggs for a series of assaults that occurred this morning before 9:00 am, Sunday, October 04, 2015 on and around the Centennial Trail.

SPD responded to reports of a male making bizarre statements attacking women with a weapon. Spokane Police had received reports of three different incidents. According to officers’ reports the women were terrified of the male.

This afternoon around 3:00 Spokane Police Officers responded to the YMCA on N Monroe on reports of male being disruptive and making bizarre statements. While interviewing the male to determine if he needed immediate psychiatric help the officers were able to develop probable cause to arrest Beggs for the earlier assaults.

Beggs was arrested and booked for 2nd Degree Assault. A mental health evaluation was also requested by the officers.

Officers believe there may have been more witnesses to Beggs behavior this morning. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at 456.2233.
