Major Crime Detectives Investigating Suspicious Death

Spokane Police Major Crimes Detectives are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found along the banks of the Spokane River just west of the Monroe Street Bridge this morning. The clothing description provided to police for missing male, Dr. John Marshall, matches the clothing on the decedent, however, positive identification of the body will come from the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Just before 9:00am this morning, Jan. 26, 2016, the Spokane Police Division received a call reporting a body in the water on the north bank of the Spokane River just west of Monroe Street Bridge. Officers and Major Crimes Detectives responded with water rescue crews from Spokane Fire Department. Detectives recognized the clothing description as that provided to police when Marshall was reported missing yesterday.

At this time, Major Crimes Detectives are treating this as a suspicious death. Specific cause of death and positive identification of the body will come from the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
