Standoff in North Spokane

Spokane Police are currently dealing with a standoff situation in north Spokane. Due to safety concerns, Division is closed in both directions from Holland to the north Division Y. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes.

Just after 9:00pm tonight, March 10, 2016, Spokane Police responded to the report of a male holding another male at gunpoint in a room at the Apple Tree Inn at 9500 N. Division. Once on scene, officers were able to establish contact with inside the room and secure the release of the victim male. The males are known to each other, but their exact relationship is unclear at this point.

Officers have been advised the subject has threatened “suicide by cop” and is currently armed. He also has warrants; two felony warrants for 2nd Degree Theft and one misdemeanor warrant for 3rd Degree Driving on a Suspended License.

Resources from the SWAT and Hostage Negotiation teams are currently being utilized in an effort to bring this situation to a peaceful resolution. Division is closed from Holland to the north Division Y, so motorists are asked to use an alternate route.
