The Spokane Police Department is Investigating a Fatal Motorcycle Collision on 2nd Ave near Freya St.

Today at approximately 4:00 pm, Spokane Police responded to a motorcycle collision on 2nd near Freya St.  Witnesses reported that a motorcycle, driven by a male, lost control and hit a curb.  It is not known if the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. Lifesaving efforts performed at the scene were unsuccessful.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  Witness reports suggest that speed may have been a factor. It is not believed that any other vehicles were involved in the collision.

Spokane police are asking people in driving through the area to use E. Sprague Ave for East and West travel between Havana and Freya.

The Spokane Police Collision Investigation Team is responding to the scene. Their investigation will last for several hours, during which time E 2nd Ave will remain closed. Traffic collisions have a major impact to all involved.  The Collision Investigation Team is committed to completing thorough investigations to determine the cause of collisions.

The identity of the motorcyclist and the cause of death will be released by the Spokane Medical Examiner’s Office.
