Spokane Police Arrest Reckless Driver for Vehicular Assault and Hit and Run After Collision

Today, March 13, 2016, just before 4:00 p.m., Spokane Police Officers witnessed a black Yukon being driven in a reckless manner at Napa and Mission. The officers tried to catch up to the Yukon to make a traffic stop. The driver of the Yukon, Ricky E Grubb(31), continued driving  at a high speed.

The officers lost sight of the Yukon at Sinto and Magnolia. Due to the reckless and dangerous manner of Grubb’s driving the officers did not try to pursue him. Grubb drove down an alley at high rate of speed and hit a pick up on Napa. The force of the collision caused the pick-up into another vehicle in the parking lot of Cassano’s Market. The two occupants of the pick-up suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries.

Grubb’s vehicle continued north through the parking lot and struck an antique truck before coming to rest in the east bound lanes of Mission Ave. Grubb’s passenger was injured during the collision.

The officers saw the aftermath of the collision and were able to detain Grubb.

The injured parties were transported by ambulances to a local hospital. Their conditions at this time are unknown.

Reckless driving like this poses a serious threat to our community.

Grubb was arrested and booked for Vehicular Assault and Hit and Run.

The Spokane Police Department is committed to enforcing Traffic laws and making the roads safe for all of us.
