Major Crimes Investigating Fatality Crash on the South Hill

Spokane Police are investigating a one vehicle fatality crash on W. 7th Ave. at S. Division St.

On 11/10/16 just after 1:00 PM, Spokane Police responded to reports of a vehicle which had crashed into the parking structure on the east side of the intersection of W. 7th Ave. and S. Division St.

A Mazda passenger car was headed eastbound on W. 7th Ave. when it continued through S. Division St., into the side of the parking structure. Witnesses said the Mazda rapidly accelerated prior to leaving the roadway, and striking the parking structure. Witnesses have been assisting crash investigators. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Mazda was the only vehicle involved in the collision, and no other persons were injured. The roadway will remain temporarily shut down during the investigation. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Spokane Police ask any witnesses to the crash, who have not already been contacted, to call Crime Check at (509)456-2233.

The driver’s identity and the cause of death will be released by the Spokane Medical Examiner’s Office.
