SPD Releases the Name of the Officer Involved in Sunday's OIS Incident

The Spokane Police Department is releasing the name of the officer involved in the January 15th, 2017 OIS incident involving Dexter Martin Dumarce (33). Dumarce was armed with a knife at the intersection of Walnut St. and 5th Ave. Cpl. Ryan Jamieson fired a firearm, striking Dumarce.

Cpl. Jamieson:

  • was hired in 2008 and has nearly nine years of experience with the Spokane Police Department
  • Instructs Verbal Defense and Influence
  • Was one of the original volunteers for Crisis Intervention Training prior to it becoming standardized for all SPD Officers
  • Is a member of the SPD TAC Team
  • Promoted to Corporal in 2016 after multiple years on patrol
  • Serves as a mentor to SPD Reserve Officers
  • Is a Range Safety Officer
  • Is a Defensive Tactics instructor
  • Received the Chief’s Citation Award in 2014 as part of the Defensive Tactics Cadre

In 2010 Jamieson received kudos from both Leadership Spokane and the Spokane Cab for providing exemplary service.
