Assault suspect was armed with a handgun when arrested yesterday for the shooting on October 18th, 2018 in downtown Spokane. Officer C.A. Jones arrested Vincente J. Ramos (37) at 2nd Avenue and Pine Street.

On October 18th, 2018, just after midnight, a non-resident visitor was walking back to his hotel. He was under the railroad overpass on Browne Street near Pacific Avenue when confronted by ten to fifteen people. The victim reported a male (Ramos) pointed a gun at his face and he felt his life was going to end.

Ramos lowered the gun, pointed it at the victim’s lower body and pulled the trigger. Ramos shot the victim in the thigh. As the group scattered, the victim walked away and called 911. The victim was treated at an area hospital for a gunshot wound.

The case was assigned to Major Crimes Detective Ben Green who developed probable cause to charge Ramos with Assault 1st Degree.

On October 30th, 2018, just after 10:30am, Officer C.A. Jones located Ramos and took him into custody. The search of Ramos located a handgun in a concealed shoulder holster along with two controlled substances that field-tested positive for heroin and methamphetamine.

Ramos was booked into the Spokane County Jail for Assault 1st Degree, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 1st Degree and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Ramos has two prior felony convictions for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd Degree and Possession of a Controlled Substance (4 counts). His felony convictions make it unlawful for him to possess firearms.
