Monday morning, around 9:00 a.m., a male inside a residence at 3100 E. 5th Avenue called to report he had been shot by an unknown male. Officers arrived within minutes to find a male with a potentially life threatening gunshot injury. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Patrol Officers secured the scene while Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit responded and applied for a search warrant to collect evidence.
At this time it is not known if the victim and suspect(s) were known to each other. The person responsible for this crime has not been apprehended yet and has shown a propensity for violence. Therefore, SPD recommends you do not try to contact any suspect involved.
This investigation is in the very early stages of processing the scene and speaking to witnesses.
