After the conclusion of an Internal Affairs (IA) investigation, Officer Nick Spolski’s employment with the Spokane Police Department (SPD) has been terminated, effective immediately.

Spolski’s termination follows his arrest on domestic violence charges brought by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) in December 2017. Though a jury reached a not guilty verdict of all four counts of 4th Degree Assault Domestic Violence in February 4, 2019, SPD’s Internal Affairs investigation determined Spolski had violated department policies.

Spolski was placed on administrative leave following domestic violence assault allegations (details can be found from the SCSO news release). SPD began the standard procedure of conducting an IA investigation to ensure department policies or procedures were not violated. Following the City of Spokane’s Human Resource policy and Civil Service Rules, Spolski was placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation proceeded. That investigation determined Spolski had violated SPD policy and his employment was terminated today.
