On December 4, 2019, around 1:30 p.m., Christopher D. Sheldon, 42 years-old, was taken into custody in the area of Addison Street and Sanson Avenue after trying to evade capture.
The Spokane Police Department (SPD) Patrol Anti-Crime Team (PACT), Special Investigation Unit (SIU), SPD K9 and the United States Marshalls were actively trying to locate Sheldon for two outstanding warrants. One warrant was for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 1st Degree which was a result of Sheldon discarding a firearm during a recent traffic stop with PACT. The other warrant was from the Department of Corrections for Identity Theft 2nd Degree.
When Sheldon was located, he tried to flee from officers in a vehicle before jumping out of the car and fleeing on foot. Sheldon ran through yards, and jumped fences before hiding in a garage.
Officers took Sheldon into custody without incident.
A search warrant was obtained for Sheldon’s car which resulted in locating a handgun and methamphetamine.
Sheldon is known to SPD as a “Violent Offender “and “Armed Career Criminal.” Sheldon has 30 felony convictions for crimes to include: Burglary, Attempting to Elude, Robbery, Attempted Kidnapping 1st Degree, and Escape.
Sheldon was booked into the Spokane County Jail for the outstanding warrants and new charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 1st Degree and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
