At 9:00 PM this evening SPD Officers booked into jail the two men involved in the collision at Sanson and Nevada for First Degree Robbery as well as other serious crimes.
Nicholas Kelley and Devin Smith were both booked for First Degree Robbery related to the stealing of the car mentioned below. Kelley (19) the driver of the car, was also charged with the following felonies, theft a motor vehicle, attempt to elude a police vehicle, vehicular assault and felony hit and run. Smith was also charged with Possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Both men immediately fled from the scene of the collision making no attempt to check on the welfare of the injured driver of the other car.

Spokane Police Department Collision Investigators are investigating an accident that occurred at the intersection of Nevada and Sanson a little after 4:00 PM this evening.
At about 4:20 PM an SPD Supervisor saw an occupied stolen vehicle near Sanson and Nevada and attempted to initiate a Traffic Stop. Moments later he advised over the radio a collision had just occurred at the intersection of Nevada and Sanson. He further advised two males were running from one of the vehicles involved in the collision and he requested medics for the occupant of the second car. Within two minutes, he and another officer had detained both of the fleeing occupants.
Both of the males that attempted to flee were taken to a hospital for minor injuries. One of the two males that fled, who was identified as the driver is now under investigation for crimes related to the collision as well as the stolen car.
The driver of the second vehicle was taken to a local hospital with critical injures.
Nevada will be closed from Rowan to Queen for hours while the investigation takes place.
