Sunday, May 3 at about 6PM, SPD received a call from the 1400 block of E Hartson Ave regarding an assault. Multiple callers reported three subjects assaulting another male. A good Samaritan tried to stop the assault and the suspects then threatened to shoot the person who had intervened, while holding an item the person believed to contain a firearm.

Investigating officers determined that the attack appeared random, or that the suspects had mistaken the target of their assault for someone else.

SPD officers located the suspect vehicle with the three suspects inside near Liberty Park. The vehicle immediately fled from police, crashing into another vehicle at 4th and Altamont.

All three subjects in the car, as well as an adult female driver of the uninvolved vehicle were taken to the hospital. At this time none of the injuries appear to be life threatening.

At least one suspect will be facing felony charges, with other persons possibly being charged as well. Because the suspect is receiving medical attention his name is not being released, and will be available when he is booked into jail.  Evidence is still being collected and the investigation is on-going.
