Spokane Police respond to shooting at Riverfront Park, no injuries reported

On June 4, 2023 at approximately 2:15pm, Spokane Police responded to multiple reports of shots being fired at Riverfront Park.

Downtown officers were able to respond quickly, contact witnesses, and identify a suspect. Just south of the pavilion, they found multiple casings confirming a shooting had taken place. No one was injured in the shooting and SPD does not believe there is any ongoing threat to the community.

Within 10 minutes of the shooting, officers were able to detain the suspect, identified as 27 year old Ku Lin. Officers determined Lin was engaged in a verbal altercation with another unidentified male when he produced a handgun and fired 2 shots into the air.

Lin has no prior criminal convictions. Lin was booked into the Spokane County Jail for 2 counts of Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm as well as 1 count each of Brandishing, Reckless Endangerment, and Carrying a Firearm without a Concealed Pistol License. Further charges may be pending.
