***Update***

Investigation into altercation that left two deceased continues, preliminary information suggests self defense was a factor in the incident

Detectives with the SPD Major Crimes Unit (MCU) continue with their investigation of yesterday’s events that left two subjects deceased.  Initial information was that a male with a knife began attacking a female in the apartment complex.  Luckily the female was not injured as another tenant came to her aid and pulled her into an apartment separating her from the armed individual.  The subject with the knife then attacked a male near a stairwell, stabbing him.  The wound was fatal and the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The suspect with the knife began walking through the complex before encountering a male walking a dog.  The suspect ran at the male still armed with the knife.  The male with the dog produced a firearm, shooting the knife wielding subject, killing him in what appears to be in self defense.  The male with the firearm attempted to render aid to the victim with the stab wound prior to police arrival.  All subjects related to this incident have been accounted for and are cooperating with the investigation.  All information is preliminary at this point and no arrests have been made.
