On August 19th, 2026 around 2:45 p.m. a homeowner from the Indian Trail neighborhood called police to report a female was on the property of their residence, which had been lost in the Old Trails Fire, and it appeared she was stealing items. The homeowner gave a description of the female suspect, who left on foot and left her vehicle at the location.
Responding officers quickly located the female suspect nearby based on the description given by the homeowner. She was identified as Taylor J. Edwards (33), who officers learned had been recently contacted in the vehicle she had left at the location.
Other responding officers went to the home near 7400 N Sutherlin St and learned from the homeowners that a neighbor had noticed the vehicle parked at the home and reached out to them. When they arrived, they noticed burned items that appeared to be theirs next to her vehicle and witnessed her on their property. After observing this they called the police, and Edwards left on foot.
The homeowners identified Edwards as the suspect they had seen on their property, and probable cause was developed to charge Edwards with Criminal Trespassing 2nd Degree. She was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail.
The homeowners also informed officers they believed some of their belongings were inside Edward’s vehicle. Officers seized her vehicle pending a search warrant. Further charges may be forthcoming once the search warrant is served.
