SPD Detectives are Investigating a Suspicious Death in West Spokane

Spokane Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating an unattended death. At this stage in the investigation, the cause and manner of death is unknown.

On August 20th 2026, around 7:00 a.m., Spokane Police officers responded to the area of 4400 N. Aubrey L Parkway for a report of a body located in the area.

When officers arrived, they located a deceased individual. SFD was called to assist with recovery efforts and SPD’s Major Crimes Unit responded to investigate.

This is preliminary information and the investigation is ongoing. It is unknown how this individual died, whether it was natural, accidental, or criminal.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the decedent and the cause of death on a later date.
