The Spokane Fire Department responded to the 3200 block of N. Regal St. around 11:30 a.m. upon the report of smoke issuing from a residence.

Upon arrival, responding crews reported visible smoke from the attic vents and upgraded the response to include additional resources. While making entry fire crews advised of fire involvement on the first floor of the home and significant smoke conditions throughout the single-story residence. Firefighters worked to quickly extinguish the fire and keep it from spreading further. The structure was rapidly searched for occupants as crews made an attack on the seat of the fire. It was determined that the residence was not occupied.

There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.

The fire caused moderate damage on the main floor of the home and smoke damage throughout. The Spokane Fire Department's Special Investigation Unit is working to determine the cause.
