Fire Chief Releases Statement On Recent Personnel Matter

Spokane Fire Department Chief Brian Schaeffer is releasing the following statement in regard to an inappropriate firefighter calendar:

The City of Spokane and the Spokane Fire Department value inclusion and equity and believe all employees and citizens must be treated with dignity and respect. The employees, in this case, did not act consistently with those core values. As Fire Chief, it is my responsibility to take appropriate corrective action to ensure a safe workplace free of harassment for everyone. Appropriate action has been taken to avoid this behavior in the future and continue the Department’s commitment to serving our community and each other with professionalism and respect.
