Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward has directed that all flags at City facilities remain at half-staff to coincide with President Joseph R. Biden’s directive that state and U.S. flags at all state agency facilities remain lowered on Sunday, Sept. 11, for Patriot Day, the annual memorial for the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

“Sunday marks the 21st anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil,” said Woodward. “It has become a day of remembrance and service in honor of those who died, their loved ones and the heroic first responders. We will never forget the pain, sacrifice, and resilience our nation showed.”

Mayor Woodward encourages anyone with a flag outside of their home or business to join us in this recognition of Patriot Day.
