Spokane Community Court Returns to Central Library

Spokane Community Court, a program of Spokane Municipal Court, is scheduled to return to Central Library on Monday, Sept 12. Court will be held Mondays at 10 a.m. at Central Library, 906 W. Main Avenue in Events Room A & B.

"Bringing Community Court back to Central Library is just one of the many efforts Spokane Public Library is actively working on to create structural community change at a larger level and address the Social Determinants of Health,” said Bethiah Streeter, Spokane Public Library’s Social Services Manager.

Community Court also serves east central and northeast Spokane.

  • Community Court East Central – first and third Tuesdays, 9 a.m.

           MLK Jr. Community Center, 500 S. Stone Street

  • Community Court Northeast – second and fourth Tuesdays, 9 a.m.

           Northeast Community Center, 4001 N. Cook Street

“Community Court relies on community partnerships to successfully manage each participant’s case,” said Judge Mary Logan. “The support of Central Library signifies the effectiveness of this multi-disciplinary team approach. The collaborative efforts of the community partnerships will result in improved outcomes, lower recidivism, and provide a safe, more secure, and healthier community.”

The mission of the Spokane Municipal Community Court is to build stronger and safer neighborhoods by providing accountability with help for individuals involved in the criminal justice system to reduce and properly address quality-of-life offenses by utilizing a collaborative, problem-solving approach to crime. Community Court endeavors to hold participants accountable, address factors impacting participants’ criminal behavior, provide access to local resources, address victim needs, and increase public confidence in the criminal justice system.
