SPOKANE – A new playground is coming to Liberty Park in the East Central neighborhood, and Parks & Recreation wants to ensure its design reflects what neighborhood children and families want for their neighborhood park.

A children’s design workshop will be held Saturday, May 7 at the Liberty Park Library, from 10 A.M.  – Noon. The Library is located at 402 S. Pittsburg.

Children and families will be provided with art supplies to draw what they envision, review photos for inspiration, vote on their favorite amenities, and share thoughts with the design team from Michael Terrell Landscape Architecture.

The design team previously asked for feedback at Library story time events, and will host additional community input opportunities.

The new playground is part of a renovation of Liberty Park, which brings together seven partners to revitalize the playground and basketball court. Partners are Hooptown USA, No-Li Brewhouse, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, Spokane Arts, Spokane Public Library, City Council, and Spokane Parks & Recreation. Design work is underway, and construction is slated for 2023.
