Spokane Police investigate overnight shooting; determine it was most likely accidental and self-inflicted

Spokane Police Major Crimes Detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning. Just after 4:00 am a 21 year old man came to the emergency room at Holy Family Hospital with a gunshot wound above his left eyebrow (non-life threatening). The man did not provide information as to who shot him or where the incident occurred. Through a follow up investigation, SPD Major Crimes Detectives determined the shooting occurred at a home in the 1300 block of E. Rowan. A search warrant was executed today and additional evidence related to the shooting was located. Major Crimes Detectives believe the shooting was most likely accidental and self inflicted, however witnesses and victims remain uncooperative, making the investigation more difficult.

At 4:18 am today, a staff member at Holy Family Hospital called to report that the victim of a shooting had come to the ER for treatment. The report indicated that a 21 year old man had sustained a gunshot wound over his left eyebrow. Spokane Police responded to Holy Family, however the victim was not cooperative in offering information about when, where and how he received the gunshot wound.

Major Crimes Detectives obtained information that shooting occurred at a residence in the 1300 block of E. Rowan. Police went to the residence and located the victim’s car in the back of residence with blood in it. They made contact with the residents and located more blood in the house.

Major Crimes Detectives obtained and executed a search warrant to enter the home and car and gain more information on the incident. After a search of the residence and interviews with people in the home, detectives determined the shooting was most likely accidental and self inflicted. No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed.
