Spokane Police Department, Explosives Disposal Unit is responding to hazardous substance at a residence at 7000 N Five Mile Road. Police expect the 7000 Block of Five Mile Road and surrounding blocks to be blocked off for several hours to local traffic.

On 08-17-13 around 4:30 p.m. Spokane Police Department responded to a suspicious substance found in the residence of a 5 Mile home. While cleaning out the residence, the occupants found a container of a hazardous substance that had been there for years. Spokane Police EDU is onscene and processing the substance. They expect 7000 N Five Mile Rd and the surrounding roads of Weile, Wedgewood and Dell Dr to be blocked for several hours as a precaution while they render the substance safe. Area traffic will be re-routed around the incident.
