Quickly arrests suspect

Spokane Police Major Crimes Detectives are investigating a shooting incident that occurred just before 1 a.m. near the intersection of E. 9th Ave. and S. Perry St. in Spokane. Officers quickly identified and arrested a suspect, 41-year-old Roderick D. White. He was booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (x4), and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.
At approximately 12:50 a.m., Spokane Police Patrol officers responded to a home in the 1300 block of E. Nina, after receiving a call that shots had been fired at a party at that location. Officers were on-scene within minutes.
Through investigation at the scene, officers determined that an argument between two men had occurred at a gathering at that location. Several shots were fired by one individual, later determined to be Roderick White. No one was injured and the group fled the location on foot. Officers quickly gained information that White was the suspected shooter and lived nearby. Officers located White in the backyard of a nearby residence and he was arrested for 1st Degree Assault and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (White is a convicted felon and therefore unable to possess firearms).
A search warrant was obtained and executed at White’s home and a vehicle outside the residence. SPD detectives located substances believed to be narcotics, three handguns and a rifle inside the vehicle. Detectives located drug paraphernalia, scales and a large amount of what is believed to be narcotics in the residence.
Roderick White was booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (x4) and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.
This investigation is on-going.
