24 hours after a man was found dead from gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a N. Spokane hotel, Spokane Police Major Crimes detectives have arrested a suspect in the case. 30-year-old Joshua R. Smith was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of 2nd Degree Murder.

Detectives believe the victim was shot by Smith after the two engaged in an altercation related to drugs, specifically marijuana.

Detectives believe the victim and the suspect were known to one another and the shooting was not a random incident.

Smith will appear in court today at 1:30 p.m.
