The Spokane Police Department is investigating a robbery which occurred today in the 200 block of S Washington St. The suspect fled the scene in a red GMC full size pickup truck with a canopy.
Today, just after 5pm, a woman was approached by a male who displayed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded her purse. The male took the victim’s purse and left the scene, but the victim gave chase. She was able to recover her purse, but lost sight of him in the 200 block of S Post St.
Several witnesses called Police giving the location of the suspect as he ran. A caller from the 200 block of S Post St gave information which led to the recovery of clothing matching the description of the clothing worn by the suspect. A fake handgun was also recovered. Several businesses in the area had video of the suspect. The suspect was last seen at W 2nd Ave and S Lincoln St where he got into a red or orange GMC pickup with a canopy and Oregon license plates. The canopy’s rear window appeared to be broken out.
