Arrest Made in North Spokane Stabbing

The Spokane Police Department have arrested a man after a stabbing incident in the area of N Division and W Rockwell Ave. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was charged with Assault 2nd Degree (Domestic Violence), a second count of Assault 2nd Degree, Possession of Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine and Possession of Vehicle Theft Tools.

Today at 4:30pm, a man was stabbed at the intersection of Rockwell and Division after he was approached by a suspect, identified as Alexander D. Riendeau, 36, of Spokane, WA. Riendeau and the victim exchanged words and Riendeau stabbed the victim twice. Riendeau then fled the scene. Just prior to the incident, Riendeau had threatened his girlfriend and another female with the knife.

Officers were in the area within minutes and located Riendeau in an alley. Riendeau initially confronted officers with the knife, but then dropped it and continued running. He was taken into custody a short time later. Riendeau was booked into Spokane County Jail for Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree (Domestic Violence), Assault 2nd Degree, Possession of Controled Substance-Methamphetamine and Possession of Vehicle Theft Tools. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was expected to be released from the hospital later today.
