Spokane Police and Fire Departments responded to a vehicle fire in a North Central neighborhood yesterday. During the course of the investigation, it was determined to be Arson. A witness also came forward giving a description of a vehicle that fled the scene at the time of the fire. Later in the day Officers stopped the car and later arrested a male.
On January 7th, 2019, 911 received a call at Post and Cora of a vehicle on fire. Spokane Fire put the fire out and determined the fire was intentionally set. Officers were contacted by a witness who observed a male start a fire and then flee in a vehicle. The witness was able to provide a good description and a license plate for the vehicle.
Several hours later Spokane Police Officers located and stopped the vehicle in the area of Sunset Hwy and Cannon St. One of the occupants was identified as 29 year old, Zackary A Fields. After interviewing occupants of the vehicle, Officers were able to develop probably cause to arrest Zackary. He was later booked into jail for 2nd degree Arson. His vehicle was seized pending a search warrant for evidence of the fire.
