Spokane Mayor David Condon has ordered flags at all city facilities to be lowered to half-staff to coincide with President Donald J. Trump directive that state and U.S. flags at all state agency facilities be lowered for Peace Officers Memorial Day.
“On May 15, 1962, President John F. Kennedy declared the first Peace Officers Memorial Day,” said Mayor David Condon. “Today we remember and honor peace officers everywhere who lost their lives or became disabled in the line of duty.”
Flags will remain lowered until sundown. Mayor Condon encourages anyone with a flag outside of their home or business to join us in this recognition.
