On Sunday afternoon Spokane Police Officers were investigating a vehicle theft in the Vinegar flats neighborhood. During the investigation a suspicious vehicle was seen driving erratically in the area. Officers attempted to contact the white Durango and a short pursuit ensued.

After the Durango hit a parked car and had a near miss with an innocent bystander. A PIT maneuver was needed to end the erratic driving. No injuries were sustained to either the driver or the Officers involved.

The driver of the Durango was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.

This incident is a great reminder for citizens to be very vigilant and make sure your safety is your first priority. Watch the action but don’t be part of the action.

PIT is a pursuit intervention technique that Officers were trained and recertified on at our spring in service training.
